Ethics in neonatal care

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Ethics is a crucial cofactor that must be taken into account in every medical intervention. In neonatal intensive care units, doctors and nurses are dealing with very exceptional ethical topics, such as preterm birth below 22 weeks, ethics regarding research and clinical trials on neonates, cpr on neonates between 22 and 23+6 weeks of gestation or on neonates with known congenital syndrome, management of neonates with brain injury. The knowledge of the ethical laws helps to avoid legal issues.
