Nursing Respiratory Neonatal Care

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The respiratory system of the newborn experiences major changes during the first days of life and as a result has many morbidities and needs to be supported. The nurse will know the skill of intubation and the use of CPAP and mechanical ventilation machines. The students will also learn the most common morbidities of this system such as respiratory distress syndrome, transient tachypnoea of the newborn, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, meconium aspiration syndrome and pneumothorax.
