- IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION, TO BE ABLE TO INDICATE WHAT KIND OF BLOOD IS GIVEN, IF NECESSARY, BEFORE TYPING IS COMPLETE, AND WHAT KIND OF BLOOD IS GIVEN, IF NECESSARY, BEFORE CROSS-MATCHING IS COMPLETE.
